The green painting
Hindi/Devanagari - Pyasa Pyala - Shringar rasa
The emerald cup, the music high above,
The dreaming earth, all thirst for hidden love.
The vertical lines, Seth says, "continue into the lines of the musical staff. The 'pyasa pyala' itself can be faintly made out in the top left corner." The words 'piya-sa' in the lower left corner of the painting could mean 'kind of intoxicated', Seth says, referring to the 'sleeping' bottle. Or it could be "'like the beloved', referring to the mysterious bottle standing to the side of the solid couple."
