Born in Paris, where he lives and works
Creative director of Kenzo Perfums since 2000, photography is his first passion and he has developed a very personal approach to reportage through a mixture of instinctive spontaneity and almost manic precision in his compositions. The results can be seen in a great deal of his pieces and exhibitions (With Kid Acne : Oiseaux de nuit, 2012. With Véronique Durruty : Tour du monde des bouts du monde, 2008, Caliente, 2007, Afrique en parfums, 2006, Voyage aux pays des sens, 2005, Orient Impress, 2003, Extérieur nuit, 2002, Fleur de peau, 2002, Parfums de l’Inde, 2002, Rouge, 2001).
His relationship with the image is inspired by the great names of humanistic and travel photography . He deliberately refuses to be part of the cold era of calculations and retouching up to the point of rejecting the chance to light his subjects, seeking out the surprises created by the natural light instead of constructing his images. In other words the real soul of his pictures comes form creatives accidents .
This is the concept that he has applied to advertising, not least in his in international campaigns for Kenzo perfumes for more than 10 years now
Afterwards he turned to writing. He has written several novels ,three of which have seen the light of day (L’envoyé, 2011, Mon enfance est un plat qui se mange froid, 2005, La collection, 2001) He creates a poetic and baroque world, mixing hard realism with dream-like scenes, black humour and total romanticism. This way he discovered the pleasure of inventing and telling stories
Inevitably then , the combination of the art of story -telling with the art of creating pictures led him to film-making, first and foremost shooting commercials for Kenzo parfums.
This fantastic adventure with Kenzo started more than 10 years ago during which he has created and shot all the perfume commercials for this label. Unlike the usual cliches of luxury commercials, his films have a human touch, an aesthetic that constantly plays with shade and out–of-focus images, grain and light.
In 2011 he made his first feature film , Les poissons aussi rêvent de voler.
