Each fall, Cheekwood, Nashville’s botanical garden and museum of art, puts on a local scarecrow exhibit. People and organizations from all around Nashville populate the Cheekwood gardens with scary, witty, and imaginative scarecrows galore. This year, we decided to join the fun! The idea: to create a real life 8-bit scarecrow, inspired by Nintendo’s Super Mario. Our giant paint-by-number guided us as we jigsawed, painted, and laid out our wooden pixels to bring Bob the Squarecrow to life. It was the perfect way to kick off the fall season!
