2017. Google Zoo Singapore
Into the Wild is a mixed reality adventure that transforms Singapore’s ArtScience Museum into a virtual rainforest. The experience combines Tango and AR technologies to let visitors see the effects of deforestation by physically exploring the virtual exhibition. Using computer vision, the app tracks motion and understands depth and distance travelled inside the museum-turned-rainforest. The rainforest is inhabited by endangered animals people can interact with to learn about the threats imposed by human impact. The experience becomes a reality when the virtual tree that people can plant symbolically becomes a real tree, donated to WFF by the project’s sponsors.
