ESPN STAR SPORTS has clinched the Asian telecast rights of the 2012 OLYMPIC GAMES IN LONDON as well as 2010 WINTER GAMES IN VANCOUVER from the INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE (IOC). ESPN STAR SPORTS will broadcast the 2012 Olympic Games, which will be held in London, to 22 nations in the Indian subcontinent as well as South East Asia. Of the London Olympics, ESPN STAR Sports will provide 200 hours of coverage, whereas on the Winter Games it will give 60 hours of coverage. Apart from all these, ESPN STAR SPORTS will also broadcast golden moments from over 30,000 hours of the Olympic Games archive.
To kickstart the 2-year long countdown to the 2012 OLYMPIC GAMES, MOJO was given the honoured role of branding ESPN STAR SPORTS as the Official Broadcaster of the Olympic Games 2012. The main idea for the ident was sparked from the flames of the Olympic torch and from there, flaming atheletes rise in various acts of sports while burning embers soared in the air and gathered in mass formations to take the shape of the 5 Olympic rings. The result was a hot and intense 30sec spot that manifested the passion of the OLYMPIC GAMES on ESPN STAR SPORTS.
