Meet Mark Rogers, a math teacher at Meridian School in Round Rock, Texas, who sets himself apart with a unique approach that merges popular culture with the fundamental principles of mathematics.

“I never thought that I would be a math rapper when I grew up,” says Rogers. “But there are a lot of people who can teach someone how to solve an equation. It’s much more unique if you can teach it in a manner that is much more meaningful to the student in a way that they’ll never forget it.”

“You tap into culture that they like, and all of a sudden, they’re completely 100% on board and learning with you” says Rogers. “To know that a student who represents the fabric of what our society is going to be is fixated on everything you’re saying and for them to think what I have to say is important enough, it’s a responsibility and it’s an honor.”
