Ryan grew up on a small sheep farm on the boarder of Lesotho, not really buying into the idea of two tone Khaki and sheep shit (much to the disappointment of his father and the rest of the valley which were all related) spent most of his time in an converted generator room where he would watch old VHS’s a friend from town had bootlegged for him. Obsessed with Pink Floyd’s The Wall from a young age made for a depressed and introverted teenager who became an observer of people.

Later when he came of age and with little convincing, Ryan was sent off the farm to go and study, fine art and later graphic design where some off his work was published in the Design Indaba 2002 Journal through the American Institute of Graphic Arts.

Some awards were won, including international recognition from Lucille Tenazas’s San Francisco American Institute of Graphic Arts. His Salvation Army PSA got a Leo Burnett 7+, it also won a Vuka “best concept” and his Coke ad won the shots YDA for best animation.
