With more than 20 years in advertising, divided between Brazil, the United States, and an espresso machine, Rodrigo Butori creates, develops and oversees ideas that cross the barriers of media, languages, and culture. It all started at DM9DDB as an Art Director, followed by Young & Rubicam, Lowe and eventually his own shop, Cápsula, in São Paulo, Brazil. He then moved to Los Angeles in 2001, with passages at Saatchi & Saatchi, Ground Zero, TBWA/ChiatDay and David & Goliath as an Associate Creative Director. During that same period, he took film classes at the UCLA Extension Program and taught at the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.Since 2010, Rodrigo has been a VP, ECD at The Community. During this period, he has helped the Miami agency grow from 20 to 170+ people with new business wins such as Verizon, Original Penguin, Volvo, Time Warner Cable, BMW, Hornitos Tequila, and Magic Leap - placing The Community in the coveted Advertising Age’s A-List for six times. His work has been honored in every major advertising award show around the globe and featured in some of the industry most respected publications. Rodrigo was also a jury member for the One Show, Fiap, and El Sol de Iberoamerica - where he presided the Innovation Jury -, and invited to speak at the New York Advertising Week, Social Media Week, Winter Music Conference, A+E Media Conference, Wave Festival, and Festival do Clube de Criação.Some of his current and past clients include Corona Extra, Kroger, Beam Suntory, Toyota, Google, Apple, Volvo, ESPN, Virgin, P&G, KIA Motors, Verizon, and the AdCouncil. Rodrigo isn't a big fan of writing about himself in the third person, but since he's doing it he may as well tell you that he's also a proud father, a dedicated surfer, and a sucker for all things that blend visual arts and technology.
