I’m a filmmaker working on narrative fiction, music videos and commercials. After graduating from the Brussels Film Academy RITCS, I made two short films and traveled the world.  The sci-fi fantasy A Message From Outer Space was a fantastic film festival favorite. The epic war short Tunnelrat was the first film to explore underground warfare during World War I. In 2014 it was part of MoMA’s exhibition “The Great War: A Cinematic Legacy”. Both shorts starred Matthias Schoenaerts.

My debut feature Paradise Trips, a Belgian-Dutch co-production, was released in the summer of 2015. The comedy drama tunes in to story of a grumpy holiday coach driver who’s assigned to bring a motley crew of party-goers to a counterculture festival in Croatia. A big part of the film was shot at Lost Theory Festival, an actual psychedelic gathering in the Croatian outback. 

Today I’m developping my second feature length project Life After Zoro, a drama produced by Bulletproof Cupid. 2019 marks the release of Phil Frisco, a dark comedy I co-directed with Koen Van Sande, produced by Cartouche and Dedsit for Flemish TV channel VTM.

Besides film I shoot commercials and music videos. I started in team with Roel Mondelaers after we collaborated on A Message from Outer Space and hit it off directing silly  stories as Raf&Roel. Awards include two times Golden Welp for best Belgian commercial (2010, 2011) and two times best director at the Creative Belgium awards (2011, 2015). As a music video director I’m known for my collaboration with pop star Stromae. Peace or Violence won @ LA Music Video Festival and was nominated at Camerimage. Papaoutai won several awards and was nominated @ UK Music Video Awards and Victoires de la Musique. The video about a boy trying to engage with his absent father became an instant classic, racking up over 500 million youtube views.
