After a string of playful and provocative viral hits, Martin Stirling has been hailed as “one of the internet’s most watched directors”. A maverick storyteller his work is often subversive, visually inventive and emotionally compelling. His film for Save The Children, Most Shocking Second a Day Video exploded online with over 25 million views in the first 5 days and won a Cannes Gold Lion. He followed this with the LEGO: Everything Is Not Awesome attack ad, criticizing LEGO’s partnership with Shell. The video made history and global news after LEGO ended it’s 50 year relationship with the oil company. Martin also created the 9+ million hit Standard Operating Procedure with Oscar and BAFTA winner Asif Kapadia in which they force fed Mos Def, highlighting the human rights violations at Guantanamo Bay. Martin was recently named a Young Gun by the Art Directors Club of New York, naming him as one of the top 30 creatives in the world - joining Hall of Famers Andy Warhol, Walt Disney, Annie Leibovitz and Jim Henson.
He won the grand prize at Sci-Fi London's 48 Hour Film Challenge with the short Future.Inc and also took the grand prize at the 24 Hour Ad Challenge proving his ability to work fast and create bold original work.
Stirling is an alumni member and associate artist of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain and has written and directed plays at various venues including Soho Theatre and The Vaults Theatre. His work as an artist has been exhibited in MoMA New York, Detroit, Los Angeles and London.
