Henri Bargès
Henri Bargès was born in Marseille, France and spent his youth near the Swiss borders.
“I have never done anything in my life except directing films.”
By the age of 19, he had already directed several short films, and at 25 he was chosen to shoot his first commercials in France.
He became known for violent ads and was seen as a “trash punk” director. He received several prestigious awards, including a Golden Lion in Cannes.
He has since branched out and developed a passion for special effects and action films, establishing himself as a multi-skilled commercial director, working with major advertising firms from around the globe. Meanwhile, he directed two feature films: Half Spirit & NUT$.
He loves to explore new narrative approaches and achieve the perfect balance of emotion, energy, personality and style for all his film.
Henri is well known for being a passionate and collaborative partner working closely with agency, client and crew alike. He is a problem solver.
With a glaringly self aware, idiosyncratic dark comedy vibe reminiscent of the likes of Tarantino or Soderbergh (after a few espresso shots), NUT$ is a non-stop, high stakes high octane ride that pops with the action-packed, sexy intrigue of OCEAN’S 11. Arguably the penultimate emblem of filmmaker Henri Bargès penchant for over-the-top, soulful spectacle to date – who has directed everything from Cannes/Sundance selects to Toyota, Samsung, and Pepsi commercials – NUT$ generates an eclectic tonality that’s exhilarating inasmuch as it is concerned with questions of gender, identity, and self-empowerment, conveyed by poker genius Lana’s (Darine Hamze) efforts to navigate the pressures of a male-dominated (under)world filled with controlling, lurking men and grander societal expectations to be a “normal” housewife. Teeming with femme fatales, mobsters, and a twinge of BDSM fun: Bargès’ latest is sure to please… just don’t forget your seatbelt.
