After studying photography at Leeds University, Ricky Patel decided to focus on a career in moving image and made the transition into film. He became a camera technician at VMI as well as undertaking steadicam training at NFTS. Then spent 3 years learning the trade through camera assistant and focus pulling roles. During this time Ricky built up his camera collection and moved onto camera operating and DOP roles. Ricky now has DOP experience in productions ranging from, music videos, corporate, short films and has worked around the world from LA to India, but calls London home. He is DOP and head of Production at Mahogany Music Group, home of the internationally renowned "Mahogany Sessions". Recent DOP work, a feature documentary on Joe Calzaghe will be released in cinemas this Autumn. Ricky has recently added an Amira, Cookes mi s4, rehoused s2 3 as well as kowa anamorphics to his growing collection of vintage lenses.
