Raised in Upper Hutt, New Zealand in the early 1980's â Callan Green was first introduced to the art of photography at the age of 6, after he received a little secondhand stills camera from his mum for being a good boy.
Hundreds of rolls of film later, when Callan was in his early teens, he witnessed a proper 35mm motion picture camera in action while acting in what was later voted "New Zealandâs worst commercial" of 1993. Bad commercial or not - from this point on he was destined to become a cinematographer. By age 17 Callan had left home and set forth on his quest to make it in the film industry.
After 7 years working as a 2nd AC on scores of TVCâs and films including a near 3 year stint in the main unit of The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy, Callan was accepted into the AFTRS in Sydney where he gained his MA in cinematography.
Callan is now a prolific award-winning Director of Photography with over 20 years of experience in the camera department. He specialises in commercials especially automotive as well as music promos and drama.

AUDI, Sony Bravia, Cadillac, Tag Heuer, Red Bull, Everlast, Toyota, Johnson and Johnson, Nissan, Mazda, Pepsi, Chevrolet, Bridgestone Tyres, Schweppes, Fiat, Jaguar - Land Rover, Bentley, Mercedes, Aston Martin and McLaren.
Most recently he has shot music videos for George Michael, James Blunt, One Direction, Pale Waves, The Script, Just Banco, Gabriella Aplin, Lewis Capaldi and Sam Smith. His short film "Grey Bull" directed by Eddy Bell won best Australian short at the 2014 Melbourne Intl. Film Festival and was nominated for best short film at the AACTAS 2015 and in 2017 Callan was asked to DoP the splinter unit on Disneyâs new block buster film âChristopher Robbinâ for acclaimed Hollywood director Marc Forster.
While living in Australia, Callan won Gold for 10 consecutive years (2006 - 2015) at the New South Wales State ACS Awards, along with 3 Runner Up National ACS Awards as well as 5
