Born and raised in the middle-class, actually-quite-cheery-for-England, pseudo-bohemia that is Brighton, Daniel’s crippling failures at musical prowess, coupled with his addiction to stress and general need to show off all of the time, nudged him towards the ambition of becoming a WORLD RENOWNED writer/director. The jury’s out on whether he should have kept on with piano lessons.
What possessed him to move to Mexico City (where he is currently, according to some reports, “living la vida loca”) is still subject to clarification… mainly due to amount of tequila consumed in the interceding period.
He’ll work with a script or will happily write one. He’ll answer a brief or help create one. The reason he loves film making is because he cannot think of a better human pursuit than to get into a team of Specialists in Crazy-Ass-Shit and create something that resonates with people from all walks of life.
Due to an unfortunate penchant for making life extraordinarily difficult for himself, Daniel is usually found experimenting with different genres and approaches to storytelling, always looking for the most unexpected route to the desired impact on the audience.
Driven by a sheer reverence for (and borderline obsession with) the totems of classic film grammar and the craft of dramatic construction, Daniel endeavours to imbue every stage of a films construction with a profound dedication to the story and what it should make us feel.
Daniel is also a staunch believer that the new Star Wars films are not as good as everyone says they are.
