Nicolas, native of northern Spain, moved to Madrid when very young.
Son of two doctors he started his director career filming his father’s operations to be used during his classes at university. He attended Communications school and acquired much of his experience in film in Spain.
He established his memorable storytelling style early on in his career, his commercials for Atletico Madrid earned him two Bronze Cannes Lions, were shown at Museum of Modern Art in NY and at Reina Sophia Museum, in Madrid. His work is infused with an unexpected hyper reality and lightness. Nicolas’ sensitive hand with actors and real people lend his films strong performances. His chemistry of subtle wit and humour, visual storytelling and a beautiful cinematic aesthetic sets his work apart.
Nicolas filmmaking talents give his work a depth and richness of detail that makes it fun to watch over and over. He believes the strongest ad are always the result of a great idea but also a collaboration with the agency and the client and his team. He is a hands-on director with an eye for solutions that support the creative. Nicolas’ diverse output includes campaigns for Nintendo, Vodafone, Coca Cola, Ikea, Disneyland, Atletico de Madrid, Turkish Airlines, Nissan, Dodge, Samsung, Panasonic, Movistar, Swisscom, British Telecom, Beeline, Canada Dry, Mc Donald’s, Skoda, Fiat, HSBC , Chrysler, Campari, to name few. Many of which have won awards in both international and national film festivals.
In addition to commercials Nicolas directed and produced in 2014 his short film HYENA’S BLOOD which is winning innumerable critics’ awards and festival prizes worldwide. It’s the story of a DEA (U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration) officer in the early 70es. Against his will, he is sent to Mexico charged with the task of cleaning up the opium fields. A violent tale of drug lords, gunfights, betrayal and corruption; this film is an explosive cocktail showing the surprising genesis of the Mexican cocaine trade.
Nicolas is bilingual French Spanish and fluent in Italian and English, now resides in Barcelona. Since 2005 he collaborates with Barbara Manfredini, his personal producer, who also rep him worldwide.
