Richard Kendall works as a freelance DOP, photographer, Bullet-Time specialist and online video producer from Melbourne Australia; currently based in China.
With over seven years in the media and commercial industry, his passionate and empathetic approach to projects has lead to him working for major organisations such as, the ABC, Fairfax Media, Oxfam, Current TV, Lonely Planet, Getty Images, State Library of Victoria, Media Storm and Monocle.
With strong commitment to individualistic and high quality images Richard is commissioned by the corporate, news, NGO sectors along with institutional and private collectors, agencies and stock libraries.
Easily adapting to new challenges, in mediums such as filmmaking, 3d Lenticular imaging, Bullet Time and multimedia; while being very adapt at handling the fast turnover at daily news wires; to the style of long term documentary projects.
He has a strong commitment to human rights and communicating through visual language and finds working with NGO's particularly rewarding.
In 2009 Richard’s work on the ABC Innovation Unit’s Black Saturday multimedia web site, was awarded a Quill award, Commended for Best Online Journalism at the 55th annual Walkley Awards, nominated for the United Nations Media Peace award in three categories, among others.
Having completed media conflict zone training and a holder of International Federation of Journalists press card, Richard is flexible and versatile.
His portraiture skills were swiftly commended as his portrait of Dame Elisabeth Murdoch toured with the National Portrait Gallery in 2010, and in 2008 was awarded the Winner of Head-on Portrait Prize, titled: Leonard and William at Alfred Hospital.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (Scientific Photography) from RMIT University Melbourne and regularly gives industry talks and University lectures.
