Kyle Hausmann-Stokes is an award-winning director and US Army combat veteran based in Los Angeles.
Kyle wrote, directed and appeared in the new Veterans For Gun Reform PSA created in support of #MarchForOurLives. More on the campaign on WeTransfer Presents.
His body of work includes broadcast commercials for advertising agencies (JWT, BBDO) brands (I LOVE NY, DUNKIN DONUTS), nonprofit PSAs (U.S. DEPT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS, EASTER SEALS) branded content (EL CAMINO, RICHER POORER), tech/app videos (TOUCHNOTE, MOSEY) and episodic television (VERIZON, A&E).
Kyle served five years of active duty in the U.S. Army as an airborne infantryman and was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant. During a yearlong combat tour in Iraq, Kyle was in charge of a small armored humvee team tasked with escorting large convoys in and out of every major Iraqi city; he was awarded the Bronze Star for his service.
Using the G.I. Bill, Kyle attended the USC School of Cinematic Arts with an emphasis on production and directing. Following graduation, Kyle was tapped by the VA’s national public affairs office to bring an authentic veteran voice to their advertising and outreach. Kyle founded a boutique production company called BLUE THREE PRODUCTIONS (his call sign in Iraq) and, over the next four years, created for the VA over a dozen national television commercials, PSAs and videos focused on veteran issues like PTSD, homelessness, the Post 9/11 GI Bill and their Summer/Winter sports programs. Two of Kyle’s television spots, SUCCESS STORIES and THESE HANDS, received Telly Awards and his piece IT MATTERS, a GREY’S ANATOMY-like educational narrative piece starring A-list celebrities, received a People’s Choice Award.
In 2015 Kyle transitioned to the advertising space. He has created broadcast spots and content for a variety of brands (AirBnB, I LOVE NY, Samsung, Nike, FitBit, Dunkin’ Donuts, Bayer, Richer Poorer, Mosey, Easter Seals). He has directed content all over the US as well as abroad in places like Lisbon, Moscow, Japan, and Palestine.
In 2016 Kyle wrote and directed the first 12-episode season of MEALS READY TO EAT, a CHEF’S TABLE-like food and travel show for Verizon’s Go90 network. A newly imagined version was picked up by KCET, the SoCal public television network, and will feature conversations and cinematic cooking sessions with a handful of the hottest chefs in LA including TOP CHEF Master Neil Fraser, OTIUM exec chef Tim Hollingsworth, TOP CHEF winner Mei Lin and ELEVEN MADISON PARK mixologist Matthew Siegel.
