
Julius Horsthuis
Julius Horsthuis (Amsterdam, 1980) is a Visual Artist and Visual Effects Designer. Julius developed a love for film and video at the age of 12. After high school, he worked on various film sets as sound recordist, clapper loader and focus puller in the years 2000 to 2006. Meanwhile, Julius had developed interest in computer graphics. He worked for several years for different (post) production companies, Revolver (2004-2005) Carbon (2006-2010) and Hectic Electric (2010-present). As a VFX supervisor, Julius worked on films such as âNova Zemblaâ (Oerlemans, 2011), âKoning van Katorenâ (Sombogaart, 2012) and âManchester by the Seaâ (Lonergan, 2016) In 2013, Julius started experimenting with Fractal Environments, creating a unique blend between abstract and cinematic animation. His work quickly gained worldwide recognition, being regularly posted in blogs and news sites such as The Creators Project, Gizmodo, Newsweek, Esquire Magazine and the Vimeo Staff Picks. Festivals exhibitions include the Geneva International Film Festival, Art Futura festival, MIRA Digital Arts Festival, SAT symposium Montréal, GOGBOT, Ruhrtriennale, and many more. Julius created music videos for various bands and artists, such as for the Grammy Award nominated song 'Clockworks' by Meshuggah. As a live visual artist, his work is used worldwide on live performances and festivals such as Avicii, Empire of the Sun, Boom Festival and, in his hometown of Amsterdam, Trance Orient Express.

Pablo Maestres’ unique talent is expressed in a carefully detailed construction of surreal stories filled with spontaneous moments and magical realism. His background as a photographer has greatly influenced his cinematographic work which can be appreciated in the obsessive composition of each frame in his films. His work has been recognized and awarded at Festivals like UKMVA, SXSW, Berlin MVF,LA MVF, Berlin FFF, YDA in Cannes, Ciclope and ASVoFF with his music video for “Fantasía”, Delpozo’s “Winter Eclipse” fashion film and the multi award-winning music video “Coeur Croisé” for Polo & Pan.
