Born and raised in Santa Barbara, California, Donald Broida began his filmmaking career as a teenager, creating surf videos with his family’s camcorder. Despite the many classes he skipped to film at the beach, he soon after moved to Los Angeles, where he studied at USC and Cal State Northridge. Donald followed his film making passion into feature film editorial, where he built a successful career with credits such as Jason Moore’s Pitch Perfect, Curtis Hanson’s In Her Shoes, Brett Ratner’s X-Men: The Last Stand, Mark Pellington’s I Melt with You and Howard Gordon’s FX series, Tyrant. Donald has collaborated with studios including Universal, Fox, Sony, Disney, Screen Gems, Lakeshore, Gold Circle Films. This extensive editorial background gave Donald a deep understanding of story, character, tone, and emotion, which helped make his transition to directing a seamless one. He brings his understanding of editing and his appreciation for connecting with his audience onto every set, giving his commercials a unique, emotional tone. Donald’s work is recognized for celebrating the beauty of people and of life itself, and his attention to detail and story have made him a sought after director in the commercial world. Donald has directed campaigns for clients such as P&G, Unilever, Fidelity Investments, and Chevrolet.
