A native of Rhode Island, Kinnane started making films at the age of 10 using his grandparents' VHS camera. He moved to New York City at the age of 18 for a television internship at the World Trade Center. His internship suddenly ended on September 11th, 2001, only one day after it started.In the aftermath of 9/11, Kinnane began work on his first full length documentary. The film would feature the residents of a group home for youth overcoming drug addiction and socio-economic issues in Brooklyn, NY. Kinnane moved into the home to complete the film and teach the young residents video production skills.In 2006 he founded the Brooklyn based production studio, Grassroots Films. There he would direct and produce multiple award-winning short and feature length documentary films God in the Streets, The Human Experience, and Child 31. His feature film debut The Human Experience opened in theatres in April 2010 and would later screen independently in 500 cities in over 25 countries. The film was acquired by Cinedigm's Docurama Films, for DVD, VOD and digital distribution. It is available on Netflix, iTunes and Barnes Noble stores. Oprah Winfrey secured exclusive television rights in 2012. Kinnane's films have been championed by celebrities and world leaders alike including, Bono and wife Ali Hewson, Former UK Prime Ministers Gordon Brown, Tony and Cherie Blair. Stars Celine Dion, Gerard Butler, Channing and Jenna Tatum, Jared and Shannon Leto, Keanu Reeves and Snoop Dogg. His work has also been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, LA Times, The Times London, The Washington Post, Gawker and seen on CNN, Fox News, Discovery Networks, and MTV. In 2013 he studied under world-renowned directing teacher Judith Weston at The Judith Weston Studio for Actors and Directors in Los Angeles.He currently lives in New York City with his wife Karey.
