Anneke Schoneveld Schoneveld concentrates on food storytelling with a philosophy that food must feed the soul – not just the body. With a combination of live action beauty and food, her work focuses on capturing food as one of the main characters in a brand’s story. Her passion for epicurean culture can be seen clearly throughout the expanse of her work. She manages her own culinary blog Balsamic Reductions where she has developed a series of short food films and acts as the food stylist, DP, gaffer, hand model, and director all at once. Schoneveld began as a chef working her way through her photography and business degrees at Virginia Commonwealth University, ultimately leaving her position as sous chef to pursue her photography. Meeting through a chance encounter acclaimed Production Designer, Norris Spencer and Academy Award-winning actor Anthony Hopkins, Schoneveld began her path into feature films and production during the filming of HANNIBAL. As a unit photographer, she studied directing and worked her way up through the ranks of the production crew ladder, becoming an IATSE member in 2007. Her work has since appeared in such feature films including TENURE (2008), BLUE VALENTINE (2010), and NIGHT CATCHES US (2010). With her visual as a photographer matched only by her love of the culinary arts, Schoneveld connected her passions and became a director in 2010. She has become a skilled problem-solving director who looks for a visual and emotionally connecting way to tell the story. Her background and education have given her an extensive understanding of marketing and advertising that allows for a broader interpretation of a project's life cycle that also harvests a brand’s needs. She shares her ideas and empiricism by lecturing at NYU's Masters of Food Studies Program, maintaining her food blog, and continuing to pursue projects that allow her to savor the experience of connecting enticing stories to the world of food.
