For the new PETA UK Campaign, we worked on an animation that portrayed the similarities between what humankind faces in 2020 and what is routine for so many Wild Animals. Many people are back in lockdown, with more significant restrictions now in place across the UK and elsewhere worldwide. These people find themselves pacing back and forth, staring longingly out the window, missing friends and family. But while it’s a difficult situation, it’s common sense that it’s temporary. For some, though, a lockdown isn’t just a brief moment in time – it’s never-ending.
With the motto “The lockdown isn’t over for everyone. Help the wild animals to stay wild”, PETA decided to create something unique with the Lightfarm team’s collaborative effort using 2D animation. We made everything from the lines to the finalization of each character inside Blender and used the software’s 2D tools to animate them.
The scenarios were made in 3D using shaders that give the 2D appearance so that every scene matches perfectly with each other. Using Blender, we were also could make all the movements of the camera that we wanted. This way, we were able to create a campaign to raise awareness for this issue surrounding wildlife.
