A short documentary by Casper Balslev
The Psychadelic cowboy. I Met David in a Starbucks in West Hollywood back in 2006. I was fascinated by his layered character the split second I met him. Off course he was an interesting subject to photograph, but we also became good friends, as I got to know him more.
David introduced me to his world. He had all his belongings in a 1970s east LA yellow cab parked on Orange Grove Ave, and he slept in an underground garage under The Beverly Center. I would sometimes have a morning coffee with David. He kept talking about having a make- over, and asked me to document it on video.
“Its time for the old snake to shed his skin”, “I gotta re- invent myself”, he kept saying, refering to himself. He also talked about moving back to his origins in Syracuse upstate New York, which he actually did shortly after this footage was filmed. Here I also visited and documented him a few years later, but thats another story, for another Day:) He is still located there.
Well, I innerduced the old cowboy enough. Here you go, Ithreams make -over. Me and him bobbing around West Hollywood with a DV cam-recorder a november Day in 2006.
Enjoy. Leaving a comment, will make the old cowboy happy.
