RBMA Weekender Tokyo (2014)

JKD took charge of the visual design Red Bull Music Academy Weekender, a music festival taking place Tokyo for 4 days. Red Bull Music Academy is a world-traveling music festival that happens for a 30 days in a different city every year, as well as a platform that sponsors live performances and supports future musical talents. In 2014, RBMA finally lands in Tokyo. RBMA Weekender, a compact version of RBMA, had 7 events including live performances, a lecture by Carsten Nicolai, and a record fair featuring DJ Krush. All of the events were a big success with the outstanding curation by Red Bull. Our graphics by Shane Lester, taking inspiration from Yokoo Tadanori’s 70′s posters and updating it with contemporary tastes of the net generation, received a great reaction from the streets of Shibuya, to Harajuku guerrilla postings, at the festival events, and online.
