"Malaparte" is also a great occasion to further our collaboration with super-talented photographer / filmmaker David Ryle (davidryle.com) who creates here a warped landscape of real and fantasised images, shot over a very hot summer in the Swiss Alps.
The beautiful photography, the rhythm, the narrative, the evidence of human presence but the absence of human beings makes it a compelling and hypnotic viewing.
“Malaparte” takes its name from a house of incredible beauty on the Italian island of Capri, a piece of minimalist architecture against a backdrop of Mediterranean paradise, as seen in the final scene of Jean-Luc Godard’s 1963 masterpiece, “Le Mepris”.
A beautiful and warped synth pad creeps onto a drum groove before leaving the scene to a demented bass line that takes the listener onto a distorted and energetic journey, before disappearing and letting the initial warped synth take over for the finale.
Lux Prima's forthcoming "Sympathy" EP was recorded and produced over a period of 18 months in 2018 and 2019.
During the recording process, Lux Prima spent a great deal of time in his East-London studio, experimenting with synthesisers, samplers and a multitude of effects, reaching out to the extreme corners of each machine's possibilities, in order to reach the unexpected sonics that can be heard throughout the EP.
With the "Sympathy" EP, Lux Prima manages to deliver a body of work that covers a wide range of emotions and feelings. The EP gathers its most obvious influences from Detroit techno and 90s British Electronica, but Lux Prima's music on this particular release also allures to a much wider spectrum of influences, from digital dub to easy listening jazz and Krautrock, and many more...
"Malaparte" was composed and produced by Lux Prima.
