Shipoopi, some say it’s the “Dance of the Devil”. In 1962, the original soundtrack for “The Music Man” number “Shipoopi” was lost. Hidden away for 55 years, never to be heard again.... Finally unearthed, it’s now revealed as a secret and fiendish satanic ritual. How horrific and depraved!! Happy Halloween!!!
***The soundtrack and score have been completely re-created and re-contextualized for the purpose of cultural critique and parody. I ask the viewer to consider the absurd notion that the original "Shipoopi" song and dance number is actually a bizarre and devilish ritual. Completely in jest, I paired newly composed, transformative music, voice over and lyrics to illicit a critique of the stunning visuals and dancing of the original film footage. As a composer and sound designer in the 21st century, I pursued this as an exercise of love and adoration for the original content and one that asks the viewer to have the same reverence for the original works and consider the merit of the parody for it's humor and execution.
