Matteo Liberatore and Dia Dearstyne teamed up in the summer of 2017 after a fortuitous meeting in a Brooklyn bar. Steeped in improvisation, their work dissects and exploits the properties of free interaction typical of the European improvisational tradition. Performances differ from time to time, but what doesn’t change is the focus and commitment of the two artists to create fleeting, passing works of art. Their aesthetic is the common thread between these performances: the focus on sound, space, gestures, silence over time, the willingness to create a form in motion. Witnessing the work being created out of thin air is enthralling. The audience members are aware that what they are participating in is an unplanned one time experience, and the significance they'll find in it is purely theirs.
