Carefully we unwrap the porcelain cup out of the tissue paper and throw it on the floor. No shards, no splinter. The cup dances in front of the lens of our Alexa Mini, it continues it’s motions in the edit and becomes part of our film, which can be described as a choreography of lines, fluid shapes and elegant design.
The focus of the film is the porcelain factory Dibbern with its Fine Bone China, which they produce with so much effort and dedication that we actually feel reverence for a saucer. We started to realize: We can not tell the manufacturing processes step by step, because that would not meet the appropriate ideals of the company. We have to show the artistic potential and create a powerful vibe.
Five of us travel to Hohenberg next to the Eger, where the porcelain manufactory is located. There we generate the main material for our story, which combines the heat of the kiln with cold ink. We follow the clear shapes and lines back to their origin of dust and water. We show the surfaces in their formation, take a step back to the first sketch and always embrace the nature of Franconia, which influenced the design.
