WAFFLE NYC

It’s always amazing when my work allows me to have different experiences. I never get tired of being thrilled by the things that I could see, but specially, the way how I could see them.
In 2015, I shot a film about what it’s like being a Litefeet dancer in the NY subways. I made it
(check here - vimeo.com/140743839) two days before coming to Brazil and it was amazing. I’d never seen anything like that. I wish I had explored that scene even more.
And, this interest started to grow when I met WAFFLE NYC. I spent two years talking to
Joel Kozik (Aero Ace) and at the end I decided to go to NYC to see what the crew was up-close.
São Paulo —> NY
I spent exactly 30 days in NY and almost every day that I asked Joel if I could join them, the
answer was always the same: “I have a photo shoot tomorrow”, “I have a film to do today”,
“Tomorrow I’m dancing in the subways”. And exchanging these ideas and living a little bit of
their day-to- day lives, I realized WAFFLE didn’t stop. But it did eventually, and it happened.
NY —> São Paulo
Weeks, after some editing, I sent JXNV$ - Rio de Janeiro (soundcloud.com/jxnvs) a message on Instagram and asked if he felt like sending a beat to the film. He was game.
Soon after, a call to Bruno Zampoli, asking if he would be willing to do the art direction. Done.
A quick message to QuietCityMusic for sound design tuning and mixing. In.
At the end, the chaos turned into a video clip, joining NYC, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo in a
short time, with little resources, but in a very real story.
I can say WAFFLE NYC is a living organism.
It has bold roots. It is an independent being. It’s street, fashion and music all at once. 
IT IS VORACIOUS.

É sempre incrível quando a minha profissão me deixa viver experiências diferentes.
Eu não canso de me surpreender pelas coisas que pude ver e, mais especialmente, da forma como pude ver.
Em 2015 fiz um filme que contava um pouco do que é ser um dançarino de Litefeet dentro do metrô em NY. Fiz o filme (veja aqui - vimeo.com/140743839) dois dias antes de vir para o brasil e foi incrível. Nunca havia visto nada parecido. Minha vontade era ter explorado melhor essa cena.
Isso começou a crescer quando conheci o WAFFLE NYC. Passei 2 anos conversando com o Joel Kozik (Aero Ace) e resolvi ir até NYC pra ver de perto o que era a crew.

Passei exatamente 30 dias em NY e quase todos os dias que perguntei pro Joel se poderia me juntar a eles a resposta era a sempre a mesma: "Amanhã tenho um shooting.", "Hoje tenho um filme pra fazer", "Amanhã vou dançar no metrô". E trocando essas ideas e vivendo um pouco do dia a dia com os caras, via que o WAFFLE não parava. Mas uma hora parou, e rolou. 
NY —> SP
Passado um tempo. Depois de ter um edit, enviei um Inbox no Instagram pro JXNV$ - RJ (soundcloud.com/jxnvs) e perguntei se ele estava a fim de mandar um beat pro filme. Topou.
Na sequência, uma ligação pro Bruno Zampoli, perguntando se animava fazer a direção arte. Fechado. Uma mensagem rápida pro QuietCityMusic pra mixar e afinar o sound design. Dentro. 
No fim, o caos virou o filme/clipe, juntou NYC, Rio de Janeiro e São Paulo em pouco tempo, com pouco recurso, mas com uma história real. 
Posso dizer que o WAFFLE NYC é um organismo vivo. Que tem uma raiz forte. Um ser independente. Que é rua, moda, música ao mesmo tempo. ELE É VORAZ.
