Due to our cooperation with Fundacja Kultury bez Barier and Disney Polska children with impaired hearing had the opportunity to interact with music from some of the most popular Disney productions and we had the pleasure to deliver “The Sound Laboratory” for children from the School for Impaired hearing.
These workshops were especially prepared by WORKSHOP FILMS , Tomek Gaj, Michał Popiel- Machnicki and Milosz Wosko and also additional musicians invited to work on this project .These workshops were aimed at showing children with hearing loss how they could interact with sound in unique and alternative ways demonstrating different forms of sound perception.
Due to the openness from the musicians the tools that were used and also the delivery of various visual and tactile stimuli, the children who were invited had the opportunity to experience music through vision , touch , vibration and enter the world of music and the instruments used in ‘The Sound Laboratory’ project.
The children were able to feel and recognise the sounds as something that flickers and vibrates. Music the children could touch and observe. They were able to see and feel sound waves with their others senses . By doing so, we showed that contact with music has no barriers and you can still enjoy and feel the music even if you cannot hear it.
The experience of the ‘The Sound Laboratory’ has been recorded in the form of a 3-minute film the theme of which focuses on the unique reactions , interactions and emotions of the children with impaired hearing discovering the sounds in the cosmic space we created giving the children a chance to experience something that most people take for granted.
The Director of Photography in this project was Michał Popiel- Machnicki, and Kuba Tomaszewicz was responsible for the original concept of the film and the editing.
