Working collaboratively under our good friends at Ink Project, Substance was invited by director Ken Lambert to VFX Supervise the shoot of 3 TVCs for Foxtel featuring Chris Hemsworth, aka Thor, and then deliver all 2D post using Flame.
This TVC, shot in the white cyc at Fox Studios Australia, used motion control to combine multiple Hemsworths into one shot. Not as straightforward as one might think, issues with bounce on the crane arm meant that all plates needed stabilising and realignment before they could be combined. Even then, all of Chris’s THOR-sized muscles meant that there was considerable bend in the chair when he sat in each position, so couches had to be patched too.
This was a small team of two compositors and two 3D artists across all spots. As lead artists, Substance looked after VFX supervision, shot management, look development, and comp.
