I've been shooting around the world for ten years now, from Brooklyn's ghettos to Japan's remote Kyushu Island. I dig deep and learn as much as I can about the subjects and locations before shooting, and take care of every aspect of the production of my work, music include. Filmmaking is about observation-taking the time to learn, spending hours just reading, looking and listening. These days, I have this terrible feeling that an entire generation of viewers out there are discovering places and people through the superficial eyes of irresponsible videographers. I want to change this trend.
My video aims to open my viewer's eyes to real life in distant and forgotten parts of the world, showing them that, through art, religion and nature, they may live amazing opportunities and experiences in even the smallest cities. I hope that the video will help raise awareness of the city's rich and diverse offerings, and attract more tourism to a city that is, like most rural Japan, largely ignored by tourists flocking to major cities like Osaka or Tokyo.
