I'm currently working on a Houdini digital asset which can increase the resolution of Xparticles caches from C4D. It should also work directly in Cinema if you have the engine. Simply feed your XP cache as a bgeo sequence in the asset and calculate a second cache with as many particles as you want based on the movement of your lowres sim. It's not perfect yet, but i think i'm on a good way.
