About the Work
This work was presented by WOW, in collaboration with Pokémon, at “Media Ambition Tokyo,” which was held mainly in Roppongi in February 2018. By transmitting an image onto the base of the mirror-coated triangular pyramid, the animation repeats the reflection like a kaleidoscope. The image, which seems to stretch to infinity, creates a space with a mixture of fact and fiction, and greeted those attending with a beautiful look which was at times like a flower, and at times like a geometric pattern.
This work is based on “Pokémon loves Fashion at PITTI UOMO (vimeo.com/223754781),” which was presented at the men's fashion trade fair "PITTI IMMAGINE UOMO" held in Florence, Italy, in June 2017. Presented as the first collaborative work between Yoshio Kubo, Pokémon, and WOW, it aimed to unite the fashion world of characters.
This second work aspires toward fusion with the art world, visualizing through the selection of components, reinterpretation, and construction of characters, and transforming the space as an installation.
作品について
2018年2月、六本木を中心に開催された「Media Ambition Tokyo」にて、WOWがPokémonとタッグを組んで発表した作品。
ミラーコーティングされた三角錐の底面に映像を送出することで、アニメーションが万華鏡のように反射を繰り返す。無限に広がるかのような映像は、虚実混交とした空間を作り、時に華のように、時に幾何学模様のように美しい佇まいを見せ来場者を迎えた。
本作品は、2017年6月にイタリアのフィレンツェにて開催された、メンズファッションのトレードフェア「PITTI IMMAGINE UOMO」で発表した「Pokémon loves Fashion at PITTI UOMO (vimeo.com/223754781)」をベースとしている。ヨシオクボ・ポケモン・WOWのコラボーレーション初作品としてを発表し、キャラクターのファッション界への融合を目指した。
2作目となる本作では、アート界への融合を目指し、キャラクターの要素抽出、再解釈、構築を経てビジュアライズし、インスタレーションとして空間へ転化している。
