Born and raised in Singapore, Ray’s passion for film grew at 18 while he was studying for a diploma in Interactive Media Design, Temasek Design School, Singapore.
He excelled in his course of study in filmmaking and was awarded “The Shooting Gallery Prize” for his final year short film, “Connection”, which was screened at *SCAPE youth park’s “STORYBOARD’08”.
During 2006-2008, while serving his national service, he successfully obtained grants from the Singapore Film Commission to make a short film and also spearheaded an Incubator program with Temasek Polytechnic to pave the way for filmmaking students. Later the short film "ONE" was invited to screen at UK, London - PLUSSIXFIVE.
Ray has produced seven films in which three were official selections and two having won a Best Film Accolade.
"BREAK" a film about love and betrayal, received a Gold Remi Award at the 44th Annual WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival, Orson Welles Award at the California Film Awards, Award Of Excellence and Best Actor (student) at the Los Angeles Movie Awards 2011. His latest film, THE TEAM, that he wrote, produced, edited and directed has won the OVERALL BEST FILM & BEST EDITING at Cine65, a local film competition.
Recently in 2010, he graduated with a Bachelor in Film & Television (FTV) from Swinburne University of Technology, Australia.
