Forget Us Not - 手中的记忆 Music Video

We were commissioned by Livehouse to conceptualize and create a music video, as part of Lien Foundation's "Forget Us Not" dementia awareness campaign 2016
After we heard the song <<手中的记忆>>, our immediate challenge was to come up with a concept that gels with the song and at the same time, depicts the challenges faced by persons with dementia and their caregivers. The lyrics of the song is visualised through the story of a father and daughter struggling with the strains of dementia.
The music video alternates between 2 timelines; an elderly father who displays symptoms of dementia and flashbacks of his younger self with his daughter. The father becomes disoriented due to dementia. He constantly lives in the past, particularly the day where his daughter hands him a pinwheel she made.
The video reflects the everyday emotions of both the persons with dementia and their caregivers, and at the same time, offers an optimistic outlook to dementia, where in the end, love binds people. We want to show how a dementia-friendly community and most importantly, understanding and love from family members can help a person with dementia.
