The 2016 Adobe Design Achievement Award for Social Impact Photography, Print, Graphic Design, and Illustration goes to Rae Congdon from Seton Hall University in the United States for “GayBCs”,
a hopeful and subversive children’s book meant to illustrate the slow but sure cultural shift in LGBTQ acceptance. The handwritten explanations and scratch outs challenge the traditional language of normality while maintaining a charming and kind tone. GayBCs powerfully manifests a future where these important new words are stitched into the foundation of our culture.
