Here's a music video by London designers Airside for the new Flashman album, called To The Victor – The Spoils, by musicians Fred Deakin (Lemon Jelly) and Robin Jones (The Beta Band).
Actor Emer Kenny and presenter Lauren St Paul star in an epic voyage through a series of vignettes that come to life one by one. The movie was directed by Timothy Bricknell (producer of Cold Mountain) and shot by Carlos de Carvalho (Star Wars and Pirates Of The Caribbean).

To The Victor – The Spoils!
Inspired by Fred Deakin and Robin Jones’s new ‘jazz-folk- techno’ Flashman album, Airside have made a music video like nothing you’ve ever seen before.
To The Victor – The Spoils! is an epic voyage across several continents fraught with peril, adultery, beheading, witchcraft and inappropriate facial hair – it’s all here, folks.
The video is a collaboration between Airside and the cream of the UK’s film industry. It was directed by Timothy Bricknell (producer of Cold Mountain) and shot by Carlos de Carvalho, who worked on Star Wars and Pirates Of The Caribbean. Carlos was largely responsible for the pioneering camera technique at the core of this film, a story told by tracking through a series of vignettes that come to life one by one.
The two main characters Sir Fred and Sir Robin are played by the lovely Emer Kenny (Eastenders, Eric & Ernie, Lesbian Vampire Killers) and Blue Peter’s Lauren St Paul. It beggars belief that could look any more attractive with moustaches, but by gad sir, they do.
The unique look and feel of the film was achieved with a lot of pre-planning and weeks of post-production. Real world props were designed to merge seamlessly with animated backgrounds, and perspectives for the parallax effect that runs throughout were meticulously prepared. A three- day shoot with a crew of over forty was required to get the necessary footage in the can, and several all-nighters were pulled before the pieces were finally put together in the right order.
