Spin Creative crafted this time-lapse video for a new client, Los Angeles-based Row 44, to be used as a marketing tool. Row 44 offers in-flight broadband entertainment platforms for airlines. The 2.5 minute time-lapse video highlights the multi-step installation process of Row 44's antenna and broadband entertainment system in Southwest Airlines planes.
Spin's goal with the project was to bring as much cinematic craft and eye-catching visuals as possible to engage with audiences. Spin shot over the course of 6 days at an airline maintenance plant in Everett, WA (near Boeing) capturing countless angles of the key steps of the Row 44 installation process. Spin shot a plethora of DSLR and GoPro cameras, shooting a variety of time-lapse durations to ensure the installation "story" could be told in a visually compelling way.
One of the more distinct camera angles used was an over-head mounted camera, used to photograph the antenna installation, which occurs on the top middle of the plane exterior. Spin mounted a Canon 5D to a pipe and rail system, attached to the airplane scaffolding (the scaffolding surrounds the plane and gives workers access to the interior and top of the plane). Mounting the camera above the antenna installation gave a compelling "aerial" overview shot that shows important detail for this key part of the installation process.
The time-lapse video along with a handful of other marketing videos produced by Spin, were initially used by Row 44 at an industry trade show (and subsequently used for ongoing marketing purposes for the company).
