We created this brand film for Treehouse, a Seattle-based non-profit committed to improving the lives of kids living in foster care.
The assignment was to create a compelling brand film that tells the story of who Treehouse is today, its future and the legacy its building upon –– and to convey the Treehouse story in an emotive, powerful way.
We developed the concept and script for the brand film around the idea of how Treehouse creates opportunity for foster kids. Treehouse is focused on giving foster kids a real childhood, ensuring they graduate high school and that they have a plan for the future. These ideas became the basis for the creative strategy and script for the brand film. We hooked on to a visual motif of "doors opening" that could reinforce the idea of the "doors of opportunity" that Treehouse creates for kids.
We also designed the brand film in TV commercial form knowing that it would have uses and delivery channels after its initial viewing at the “Champions” event. Out of the brand film, we edited this sixty-second TV commercial, as well as a thirty-second version, that are airing as PSAs in the Seattle market.
We were fortunate also to have Tom Skerritt provide the voice over narration for the project. Tom brought a wonderful combination of authenticity and gravitas to the narration, helping to elevate the overall emotive storytelling of the piece.
We shot the project on a Canon C300 over a few days at two different school locations, as well as at Treehouse and several houses. Our clients at Treehouse helped tremendously with sourcing and coordinating locations as well as talent, and they did a tremendous job.
