In July 2017, Virgin Australia became the third airline in Australia to offer direct flights from Melbourne to Hong Kong, long a domain owned by Qantas and Cathay Pacific. For the launch of this event, the Golden Dragon Museum of Bendigo gave the use of their Night Dragon, Yar Loong, to Sir Richard Branson and the Virgin Australia team.
The Golden Dragon Museum holds a huge collection of Chinese artifacts which tells the story of the Chinese migrants in Bendigo, and houses the Loong, the oldest Imperial Dragon in the world; and Sun Loong, the longest Imperial Dragon in the world. Yar Loong is the only known existing 'torchlight parade' Dragon made by the famed Hong Kong Dragon maker Kum Yuk Lau.
Archivist Media is extremely proud to have been commissioned to create a film about the role of the Golden Dragon Museum and Yar Loong for the launch of Virgin Australia's flights from Melbourne to Hong Kong.
Clients: Golden Dragon Museum and City of Greater Bendigo
Executive Producers: Anita Jack and Terry Karamaloudis
Narrator: Anita Jack - General Manager of the Golden Dragon Museum
