A+C Studios is an animation production studio, specialising in traditional lens based animation. However, there is nothing traditional about our work! We love to combine hand crafted and original stop motion techniques with new and experimental ideas and design. Script:
Dan: Working on a Life in Print and promoting local news was a really exciting challenge. My first idea was to show a man's life and how he interacted with local news. We showed his birth being covered in the birth column. We showed his school play being covered. We showed a local news campaign to save a tree. And we also showed how our character developed a business through local news and advertising, all the way to when he is retired and he's interacting with news on an iPad with his grandson. The reason we chose the designer was because the designer had a beautiful way of creating theses characters with shapes and proportions with created a wonderful silhouette.
Esther: What attracted me to the project was the technique. It's in stop motion and papier-mâché, and I use simply colour and simple shape so with this technique it is more close to my original drawings. My approach for the design of the theme is "sketch". I sketch people in life; in their natural environment and then I take their funny little stuff they do. My favourite part of the film was to see my character come to life and to see them come to life with animator and model making team is a good experience.
