8 months ago BBC Radio 5 live came to us with a big brief: people knew the station for sport, but few realised the quality of 5 live’s news coverage. They wanted to bring this to the fore and prompt reappraisal of the station.
Using the highly controversial and perennial debate of one’s right to defend their home from an intruder, the 40” TV spot sees a homeowner confronted by a young burglar. A plethora of diverse opinions on the topic compliment a visual set-build technique, and we conclude on a fully formed living room where the action comes to a dramatic finale.
We end on the understanding that BBC radio 5 live is a news station that doesn’t just report or debate news stories, but as this example shows, the station brings them to life.
