It was indeed an honour to be included in the rebranding process that saw Playhouse Disney transform to Disney Junior, a channel with magic and storytelling at the heart of its content. To capture that magic for the Asian market, we produced four spots with the most adorable kids, after an exhausting casting process. The concept was deceptively simple. Get the kids to do exactly as their US counterparts had done in the original US versions of the spots. In short, work backwards. With all the pre-determined background layers and 3D composites provided to us beforehand, we just had to execute the children’s actions against chroma green in the studio, albeit with a few tweaks that our director saw fit to recommend. That aside, getting children to hit their marks, especially within an ‘imaginary’ environment, is certainly not an easy task. For the record, we’d like to say that the children and their parents were champs to work with, and the production team’s patience and stamina was unparalleled.
