Soo Kee Jewellery gave us poetic license to tell the story of their Brilliant Rose diamond. All they asked was for us to include the main inspiration for the cut, the famous north and south rose stained glass windows of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. With such a significant design influence at play, we decided to tell a story of the relationship between man and diamond, a bond between designer, cutter and diamond. From inspiration, to design, to craft, it is a story that transcends time, as the diamond takes shape from an old designer’s workbench, to a contemporary cutter’s desk. Shot on the RED camera in macro, and black and white, the diamond takes on a life of its own, its sparkle even more brilliant within a minimalist setting. This is a piece we are particularly proud of, as jewellery commercials rarely capture the passion that the diamond’s makers put into it but choose to focus on the end-user instead.
