Over the years, we have done many shoots for commercials, television programmes and the odd music video. Yet for all the right reasons, this music video ranks high up there as one of the most unforgettable ever. For one, it's the first music video that we worked on with our dear friend, and DOP Marc Gomez. And then there was the weather. This was shot over one day in January 2005 just a few days into the new year during the monsoon season in Singapore. Torrential tropical thunderstorms are the norm and we were all praying for the weather to hold. No such luck. It proceeded to pour heavily throughout the entire day.
Still, undaunted, we proceeded. With a cast drawn from family, friends and a hired trishaw rider that gamely took on the twin challenges of weather and the job of ferrying us around in his ride, we ignored the elements and went ahead with the shoot. Despite having to memorize and learn the Spanish lyrics to the song, all our talents showed their linguistic dexterity by singing along to a rickety old hi-fi set strapped to the trishaw.
Who said work can't be fun. We had a splashing good time that day and a really cool music video at the end of it. Back in Spain, the band was delighted with the video, and it went on to win awards! Shaun makes an impressive appearance (with hair) in the opening.
