Loco was happy to get to work once again with director Nicole Nodland on her latest video for Slow Moving Millie, the actress, singer, songwriter also known as Amelia Warner. From shoot to delivery, the team had just 96 hours to complete the promo in time for its release on Friday 11 November 2011. The latest single from her upcoming album “Renditions” is a cover of a classic Smiths song, “Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want”. Her version of the song is also featured in the Christmas campaign for John Lewis directed by Dougal Wilson for Adam & Eve. Director Nicole Nodland and DOP Carl Burke filmed the music video with the Arri Alexa on location in the beautiful gardens of Fulham Palace. The theme of the video is “a woman’s burning desire to find happiness in her life” and takes inspiration from the Hans Christian Andersen story of the Little Match Girl. As she lights a match and closes her eyes, the young woman is transported into a dream world, an eerily beautiful scene influenced by the flickering, hand tinted silent films of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. To achieve this look for the music video, Vaseline was applied to the lens filter and Millie was filmed dancing and swaying in a flowing white dress against a black velvet background. In postproduction, editor Jon Davey and in-house BaseLight colourist of Dirty Looks were able to re-create the director’s vision through clever compositing and grading.
