Now in its 4th year, the UK Music Video Awards has grown bigger and better and Loco has been thrilled to continue as the postproduction partner. The MVAs is the UK’s premiere music video awards event, which celebrates the best work in British and international music videos—honouring the people who make them, from well-established directors to up-and-coming directing stars of the future, as well as the cream of the talent making videos behind the camera, from cinematographers to editors to stylists and visual effects artists.
With the addition of new categories for international and budget videos, there were more entries than ever before, and the celebrations moved to the much larger Empire Leicester Square cinema. Adam Buxton, comedian, broadcaster and regular host of BUG: the Evolution of the Music Video, returned to the MVAs as this year’s host, joined on stage by an enormous, red balloon-animal shaped like a dog.
Loco’s team collaborated with David Knight of Promo News/ MVAs to create the introductory montage of this year’s exciting and inspiring music video clips to the soundtrack of Cambodian Space Project’s “I’m 16”. Joyful celebrants cheered loudly as their work appeared on the cinema screen during the show. Loco's Miland Suman worked with branding designer Chris Thomson of Studio Thomson as well as stage designers from Reality Awards and event director Louise Stevens of Ballistic Events as they carried this year’s balloon animal theme to the big screen (and beyond).
As Louise said, “The move to the bigger cinema was a bit daunting but thanks to your input (especially you Miland!), I think we managed to produce a pretty impressive Awards show, don't you?”
We thought the show was spectacular, and to top it off we got to see Loco’s creative director, Danny Coster take the stage (in a rather creative way) to present the best new director award to the directing team, Us.
