A round of applause please for the release of A Doll’s House, the third collaboration between Digital Theatre and the Young Vic, which is now available to watch online, download or view on the Samsung Smart TV App. Loco worked closely with the team at Digital Theatre to provide finishing work including online editing and colour grading on the full-length production as well as the trailer.
The Young Vic’s A Doll’s House by Henrik Ibsen is a new English language version by Olivier award-winning playwright Simon Stephens from a literal translation by Charlotte Barslund. Young Vic Associate Director, Carrie Cracknell directs the play, with design by Ian MacNeil, costumes by Gabrielle Dalton, lighting by Guy Hoare, music by Stuart Earl, sound by David McSeveney, and choreography by Quinny Sacks. Hattie Morahan plays the iconic role of Nora Helmer in her Young Vic debut together with Dominic Rowan as Torvald.
Digital Theatre, launched in 2009 by Robert Delamere and Tom Shaw, works in partnership with Britain’s leading theatre companies to capture live performance authentically onscreen. Using multiple camera angles and high-definition technology, they bring the drama and emotion of each production to a global online audience.
Undaunted by the large volume of media filmed with a variety of HD camera angles and formats for the three-act play, Loco’s postproduction team helped to address some of the challenges of translating the theatre goer’s experience into a video production. Online editor, Lee helped to ensure that the elements of the edit would fit together seamlessly while Colourist Dado Valentic was able to adjust for the low light levels that provided ambiance in many of the scenes.
A Doll’s House is the first production to be released on Digital Theatre’s new App for Samsung Smart TV. The production joins Digital Theatre’s full catalogue, which can be watched through the App for free with the purchase of any Download or HD Download from the website.
