The 25th World Gas Conference was held in Kuala Lumpur, for the culmination of the various studies and programmes undertaken during the course of the 2009 - 2012 Triennium, for the betterment and development of gas industry worldwide.
We were approached by the Malaysian Gas Association to create a 10-min animated video as a token of appreciation for all thirteen committees involved and participated in the 2009-2012 Triennium, with characters created specifically for 26 committee members from 13 countries and photo presentation dedicated to each committee.
The story was developed based on the classic film "Around the World in 80 Days". Phileas Fogg (Datuk Abdul Rahim Hashim) was given a mission by the International Gas Union to gather all the findings and research from all over the globe and showcase in the world's greatest gas show, the World Gas Conference 2012. It is a race against time where Phileas Fogg, Passepartout (Mr Ho Sook Wah) & Princess Aouda (Ungku Ainon Ungku Tahir) leave Kuala Lumpur for a voyage around the world in 969 days, returning to KL in time for the World Gas Conference. Along the way they cross paths with the different committees, each of which takes the role of different set of characters, according to the locations in which they have held their committee meetings.
It is a lighthearted piece portraying the cultures of different countries, ranging from costumes, mode of transportation and music.
